![]() Bob Schieffer TCU '59 Brother Schieffer is anchorman and moderator for "Face the Nation," and has covered all four major Washington national assignments.
Brother Bob Schieffer a member of the Texas Zeta Chapter began his profound journalism career at the Fort Worth Star Telegram covering both the Vietnam War and the JFK Assassination. In 1969 he began his career with CBS.
During his time at CBS, Brother Schieffer became viewed by many as broadcast journalism's most experienced Washington reporter. He has been anchor and moderator of Face The Nation CBS News' Sunday public affairs broadcast, since May 1991. He also serves as CBS News' chief Washington correspondent. Brother Schieffer has covered Washington for CBS News for more than 30 years and is one of the few broadcast or print journalists to have covered all four major beats in the nation's capital - the White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and Capitol Hill. He has been chief Washington correspondent since 1982 and Congressional correspondent since 1989. Schieffer has covered every presidential campaign and has been a floor reporter at all of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions since 1972. While Brother Schieffer’s entire career has demonstrated how a Phi truly can Go far, he has won a number of accolades as well, including six Emmys and two Sigma Delta Chi Awards. In 2002, the National Press Foundation chose Schieffer as its Broadcaster of the Year and in the same year he was inducted into the Broadcasting/Cable Hall of Fame. Brother Schieffer recently had the school of journalism at his alma matter, TCU dedicated to him. He has also authored three books: My Favorite Stories from the First 50 Years of the Award-Winning News Broadcast, 2004; This Just In: What I Couldn’t Tell You on TV, 2003; and Acting President, 1989. |
