The Foundation Today...
The Phi Delta Theta Foundation was created in 1958 and chartered by the State of Ohio on August 16, 1960. The Foundation was granted its tax exempt status in 1963 after giving evidence of its good intent by awarding its first scholarships in 1962.
For approximately twenty years, the Foundation’s activities were limited solely to giving scholarships. Then in the early 1980s, the Foundation began supporting other educational activities like the Chapter Consultant program, the Leadership College, the educational portions of the General Convention, educational materials, and numerous other programs.
In 2010, the Iron Phi program was introduced as a joint effort of the Foundation, Fraternity and ALSA -- its mission is to strengthen the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity and the impact it has on the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease through the fundraising and athletic efforts of its members.
Today the Foundation is an instrumental partner in nearly every Phi Delta Theta program and activity, including:
